The GTSA would like to thank Aguado Cranes and Transport Gibraltar for a £500 sponsorship aimed towards the development of our future generation of players. The monies will go towards the purchase of 10 Astrobase fast-track pitches.

This year there will be two divisions in the under 15 section. The first division will continue to be called the Verralls League and the second division will be called the Aguado League.

Verralls Und 15 League 2011-12

This year's league will commence on Tuesday the 6th of September. The venue will be at the IPA premises once more. Those interested in participating will have to register through email/ phone a league official;

Presentation of Trophies and Reception

Last Tuesday the trophies for the Under 15 Verrall's League and Cup were presented at the IPA Club by Sponsors Verrall's Solicitor [Chris Miles]. Collection of trophies were as follows; Kyle Tellez, the League  and Cup champion.

World Cup 2011 Italy

End of Season Reception

All GTSA under 15 members are reminded that the presentation of trophies and the reception will be held at the IPA club at 20.00hrs [8pm] on Tuesday the 7th of June. A group photo will be taken so please take your GTSA t-shirt.

End of Season for the Under 15 category.

Last Tuesday was the final fixture for the Verrall's Under 15 League. Kyle Tellez claimed once more [as in previous year] the title followed very closely by Guy Palmer jnr. This league has been a very competitive one with several new players showing how well they have been able to improve throughout the year. The GTSA would like this opportunity to thank the organisers of the league namely John Field, Guy Palmer and Lawrence Alvarez for their dedication and commitment to the club. In addition they would like to thank the sponsors for this category Verrall's Solicitors.

There is going to be a reception in the next few weeks held at the IPA club where the trophies will be handed out. The GTSA wishes it's members a happy summer break and hope to see you all back in September.

Results IO Mallorca

The IO of Mallorca was played this last weekend. Results as follows;-

Team Event - Winners Real Murcia who beat Rocherfort in the final. Semi-finalists were Tiburones FM and Turia.

Under 15 - Winner David Gonzalez Bermudes [Tiburones FM] who beat Florian Giaux [Rocherfort] 6-3.

Veteran Category - Winner Vinc Pratts [Tornino Warriors] who beat Titi Giaux [ Rocherfort] 2-1.

Open Category - Winner Carlos Flores [Reggio Emilia ] who beat Nuno Noronha [Tiburones FM] 5-4 in which proved to be one of the best finals in a long time.

A very warm and welcoming Mallorca Aguilars Team culminated the organization of this popular event to a mere perfection. Well done !!

6th International Open

The 6^th Gibraltar International Open took place this past weekend in the Catholic Community Centre. Like in previous years, this event attracted several high ranked World Players including the Veteran World Champion Juan Carlos Granados. Four categories were played with approximately 45 players in all competitions.

In the team event there were four entrants, GTSA A/B/C and Tiburones FM.  This was played in league form with every team playing each other. GTSA A won this event for their first time.

In the Under 15 event, there were 21 players. The two semi-finals were between the best four players in this category. In the first, David Gonzalez Bermudes was paired up against team rival Antonio Casin. Bermudes won 7-2. In the second match, local rivals Kyle Tellez and Guy Palmer played an exciting game which was resolved in the last 2 seconds with a 3-2 victory for Tellez. The anticipated final between Tellez and Bermudes was a very intense and tactical match with Bermudes winning 3-2 with the golden goal.

The Veteran event unfolded with a victory by the reigning World Champion Juan Carlos Granados who imposed himself  against Nuno Noronhawith a golden goal

The Open event was the most anticipated event of the weekend. Three locals [John Field , Guy Palmer and Eddie Tellez] managed to reach the semi-finals only to loose against a very strong  opponent, Vinc Prats from Torino  Warriors. Prats won 3-1 in the final against Guy Palmer.

The GTSA would like to thank all it’s members and the participants of this event for their fair play. In addition they would like to thank the Minister for Sports Mr Edwin Reyes for his continuous support and attendance and Chris Miles [on behalf of Sponsers-  Verralls Solicitors].
